Continuing to Push the Real-Time Communications Envelope in 2015
I can’t believe we are already approaching the month of August. The first seven months of 2015 sure went by quickly, but have been filled with a ton of great activities and milestones for GENBAND, Kandy and the fring Alliance.
During the first half of the year not only did we hold another highly successful customer and partner summit, Perspectives15, but we were named to the CNBC 2015 Disruptor 50, ranking number 22 – well ahead of well-known brands such as Pinterest, Spotify, Snapchat and Twilio. This is a huge honor and evidence that the noise that we are making in Real-Time Communications is being heard.
Our leadership team is fully committed to bringing disruptive solutions to the marketplace and continually pushing the envelope when it comes to innovation. Case in point, September will be the one-year anniversary of Kandy, our award-winning communications platform. In under a year, Kandy has already built an unbelievable ecosystem with tech giants Samsung, SAP, Deloitte, IBM and Tech Mahindra all playing critical roles in helping our company introduce solutions that are changing the way we communicate. The use cases that we have seen produced by the power of Kandy have exceeded even our lofty expectations.
One of the most creative things our team has done is to take Kandy to the masses via a state-of-the-art tour bus packed with Kandy technology and demos. From Silicon Valley to Denver, Orlando, New York and several other major stops in between, the response that we have received to the KandyMobile at hackathons, tradeshows and corporate events has been amazing. Our customers, partners, prospects and developers have all been surprised at just how easy it is to embed the real-time communications capabilities that Kandy enables directly into their apps and business processes.
In February we announced the fring Alliance, which is a very creative way to allow global communications service providers (CSPs) to come together and successfully fight independent Over-the-Top (OTT) players like Skype, Whatsapp and Viber, who are basically getting a free ride on operators’ networks. The fring Alliance enables CSPs to provide instant messaging, voice and video services to their subscribers while creating and leveraging a universal user directory. Members of the Alliance will gain ownership, and have a stake in the platform they are creating, benefitting financially from their investment in the community. During this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona we held an amazing fring Alliance launch party, which was a hit.
At Perspectives15, we brought together over 700 professionals, businesses and thought leaders from all over the world to Orlando to discuss the issues and trends that are driving the rapid changes in our industry. This was only my second Perspectives event, but judging from the feedback from attendees, it was easily the best yet. Virtually everyone who attended said that they are planning to come to future Perspectives events. The summit was filled with four days of information sharing, networking and fun, which included a great night of classic rock from the legendary band KANSAS.
The long list of media and analysts who attended Perspectives15 also seemed to get a great deal from the world-class line-up of speakers, who included leaders from Verizon, SAP, HP and Intel to name a few. My team and I are already well into the process of planning for next year’s event and our goal is to top this year.
Even though it has already been an action-packed year, we have a lot more planned for the second half of 2015. We are looking forward to discussing our mobility capabilities, which include Kandy, our fring service provider OTT offering and our industry-leading Small Cell and Carrier Wi-Fi solutions, at the upcoming CTIA Super Mobility Week in September. Additionally, we will be sharing more news on the successes that we continue to experience with Kandy in the coming months.
Network Transformation is still a large part of our business and as global communications service providers increasingly look to transition aging networks to more energy-efficient, IP-based technology you will be hearing more from us on this front as well. In fact, our Network Transformation capabilities will be on full display at the Asian Carriers Conference in September. Here is an excellent testimonial from VTR Chile on how GENBAND has helped optimize their network with our market-leading capabilities.
Fall is going to be very busy for us. We are really excited to highlight the traction that our ecosystem approach to Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) is garnering and will be showcasing these capabilities at the Network Virtualization North America in October. We will also be announcing our fring Alliance charter members that same month.
I am thrilled about all of the opportunities that lie ahead for us; 2015 has already been an incredible year for our company and I know that we are just scratching the surface!
